Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a complex condition that can develop after someone experiences a traumatic event. Symptoms may include flashbacks, nightmares, anxiety, and avoidance of situations that remind one of the event. Fortunately, effective, research backed treatments for PTSD exist.
Treating trauma is one of my clinical passions and areas of expertise. I have specialized training in the two most effective treatments for PTSD: Prolonged Exposure (PE) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). Multiple studies have shown that patient show complete these treatments demonstrate significant reduction in PTSD symptoms and improved quality of life.
PE works by helping patients gradually approach trauma-related memories and situations. Through this process, patients learn that trauma-related cues are no longer dangerous and do not need to be avoided. CPT focuses on identifying and changing unhelpful beliefs related to the trauma. By modifying these beliefs, people can reclaim their life from PTSD. I can discuss these treatment options in detail with you following an initial consultation to determine which option might be the best fit.
I have the knowledge and experience to help adapt these treatments to get you on a path towards healing and recovery. My goal is to provide a caring, safe environment where we can work together to address PTSD's impact. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with me to learn more about evidence-based PTSD treatment.
